We think it's a pretty great perk that Jupiter Bowl offers advanced booking of lanes. With only 16 lanes and winter season upon us we are seeing that we always have a wait list going at all times of the day. The advanced bookings can be made up to 2 weeks in advance of the desired date for up to 2 lanes for 2 hours, you can even book the private Club lanes if they are not already in use. This booking guarantees your group a lane at your desired time, date and no need to wait!
Even being on the wait list isn't all bad, because there are many things to do inside Jupiter Bowl besides just bowling, there are billiards tables, an arcade, two full bars and a full service restaurant. We also always recommend that you call ahead to check wait times. While wait times are more of a educated guess then a exact science it may give you a good idea of when to come.
What do you think? Are Jupiter Bowl lane bookings a convenience or annoyance?

X96 Mixer Friday November 12,2010
If you we not here on Friday you MISSED out on an awesome "Pro Bono Billiards and Bowling" party hosted by RADIO FROM HELL on X96. It was an eclectic mix of people from groups of tweens bowling in their socks, college kids downing pitchers of PBR or the die hard fans of the long time running Radio from Hell morning show bowling with their favorite radio jockeys... Kerry, Bill & Gina. All 16 lanes were packed as people rotated between the billiards lounge, bowling, the restaurant and arcade (even the adults).
The best part was for the fans of the show, getting to bowl, drink and chat it up with the very funny hosts who made is a point to try and talk to everyone who attended. Of course we can't forget to mention the awesome prizes given out like Skullcandy earbuds & head phones.
After the Mixer people stuck around to hang with the athletes from the Utah Olympic Park that were here to relax after competing in the FIBT America's Cup! Stay Tuned for news on our World Cup Party!

Jupiter Bowl.... just a bowling alley?
Background: Jupiter Bowl was hosting Teton Gravity Research's newest powder film "Light the Wick" which was open to the public to purchase tickets weeks in advance and at the door. Jupiter Bowl also makes a conscious effort to inform patrons of Jupiter Bowl via Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, our Website and over the phone (435.658.2695) when we will have no lanes, limited lanes or a private events that may close down the facility to the public...
So, an interesting topic came up on our Facebook today a guest said "Jupiter Bowl is the stupidest place EVER! They don't know if they wanna be a bowling alley or not. One night they are having a dance club the next night, they are having a ski movie primier. Make up your CENSORED mind if you wanna be a bowling alley or not."
We say NOT. Jupiter Bowl is above all an entertainment venue with fantastic bowling! We are hoping to provide this community valuable opportunities like being able to attend a ski movie premiere, to have a great 21+ nightlife scene in Kimball Junction, be a music venue all while being able to provide a fun family entertainment during the other times.
If one looks at the major trend in "bowling alleys" they are becoming "Bowling Lounges" or "Bowling Boutiques" for instance out in New York you can visit Brooklyn Bowl which in addition to being a Bowling Lounge is a hugely popular music venue hosting artists such as Solange, Matisyahu, The Roots, Snoop Dogg, N.E.R.D and countless other local bands. How great would it be to have another venue in Park City with the capacity and ability to have these artist perform? Not to mention drawing more of a Salt Lake traffic which means business for ALL of Park City.
WHY??? would you want us to just be bowling alley?
With our state of the art audio and visual equipment why wouldn't we want host a band, or with PC's largest dance floor spanning 4 lanes on the main concourse why wouldn't we want to have a Club Atmosphere with TENPIN on Saturday nights? Especially in the Kimball Junction area where there is not as many nightlife options as on Main Street.
With 24 HDTV's and 120' feet of video wall,WHY wouldn't we want to host awesome film screenings.
We do understand the frustration when people try to go somewhere and they are closed, that's why we have recommitted ourselves to communicating with our customers when the venue will be unavailable. We will always be available via the phone during business hours for questions about availability and you can always check our Facebook, Twitter, Blogger and our Website for event information. We would love to hear YOUR feedback on how we can better communicate, as well as other things you'd like to see at Jupiter Bowl! We think that Jupiter Bowl has it all and we hope everyone can come to appreciate the many different things that Jupiter Bowl will bring to the Park City community.

the History of BOWLING!
We would like to thank http://www.essortment.com/all/historyofbowli_rkdx.htm for our history lesson today...
Even though bowling has been the object of satire in such movies as Kingpin and the Big Lebowski, it is certainly a genuine sport. And, believe it or not, it may be one of the oldest sports in the history of the world. Over 100 million people in more than 90 countries practice the game, making it one of the most popular and universally loved forms of recreation on the planet. It has been the game of kings (literally), and the startling facts behind the origins of bowling may surprise even the most dedicated kingpin.
In the 1930’s, British Anthropologist Sir Flinders Petrie became the first to discover evidence of a bowling-like game. He found ancient objects in a child’s grave in Egypt that were allegedly used for a primitive form of the game. The artifacts have been dated back to 3200 BC, effectively making bowling over 5,000 years old! Although some critics put the birth of bowling much later (German historian William Pehle has said that the game originated in his country in 300 AD), it has certainly endured centuries to settle into the modern lanes that we all know and love today.
The first written mention of a bowling-like sport can be traced to the year 1366 in England. Allegedly King Edward III outlawed the game in order to keep his troops focused on their archery practice, but it was most certainly in vogue (and legal) during the reign of King Henry VIII. Many variations of bowling have come from Europe including Italian bocce, French pentanque, and even Britain’s lawn bowling, but the question of who introduced bowling
to the United States is much more uncertain.
The English, Dutch, and German settlers all brought their own versions of the game to the New World. The earliest mention of American bowling comes in the form of a quote from Rip Van Winkle when old Rip wakes up to the sounds of "ninepins". The origin of the tenpin game is still unknown, but by the late 1800’s it was prevalent in New York, Ohio, and Illinois. The first standardization of the rules of the game was established on September 9, 1895 at Beethoven Hall in New York City. It was then that the American Bowling Congress was formed and major national competitions began. The Women’s International Congress came much later in the year 1917 under the encouragement of proprietor Dennis Sweeny. The women leaders participating in a tournament later formed the Woman’s National Bowling Association.
The first Mineralite ball was introduced in 1914 by the Brunswich Corporation, and the first commercial installation of a pin setting machine came in 1952, making "pin boys" almost entirely unnecessary. But nothing did more for the popularity of bowling than the first broadcast of "Championship Bowling" by NBC in the 1950’s. Thanks to this show and many others including "Make that Spare", "Bowling for Dollars", and "Celebrity Bowling", bowling was thrust into the American public’s living rooms and hearts alike. The Pro Bowlers tour became hugely popular on ABC Sports Broadcasting after first being televised in 1961. These events all added to the popularity of Bowling but make no mistake. Bowling is loved in its own right because it is a sport of the people. It has come from its early forms to evolve into a truly enjoyable American past time.

Don't Try this at your local bowling alley....
To help you through the week... some hilarious bowling clips. We love YouTube!
Even Tosh.0 gets in on the bowling actions... though not his finest showing.
Three things we learned from this video: Remember to LET GO of the ball... but not TOO soon, the lanes are oiled = slippery, and always make sure the other guy's hands up before you high five!
Everyone makes mistakes!

Just What Is League Bowling?
League bowling is a group of people getting together to bowl on a competitive basis. League bowlers consist of people of all age groups, all walks of life, and all levels of athletic skills.
Leagues are organized with various numbers of teams consisting of all men, all women, or a combination of men and women. These leagues meet on a regularly scheduled basis, normally once a week, to compete against each other as teams. Some compete for prize money, some for trophies, but all of them compete for the fun of bowling.
League bowling then becomes a more equal form of competition because of its handicap system. A less talented, or inexperienced bowler, can compete with a bowler of more experience and skill and still have a chance to win.
League bowling is an inexpensive night out, giving you a chance to make new friends, compete on an equal basis, and be assured that you will have lanes to bowl on each week at a time that is suitable to your own personal schedule.
To put it simply, in relationship to any other competitive athletic event, league bowling is the best buy in town and you don’t have to worry about getting rained out.
Couldn’t We Interest You in a Bowling League?
