Jupiter Bowl.... just a bowling alley?
Background: Jupiter Bowl was hosting Teton Gravity Research's newest powder film "Light the Wick" which was open to the public to purchase tickets weeks in advance and at the door. Jupiter Bowl also makes a conscious effort to inform patrons of Jupiter Bowl via Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, our Website and over the phone (435.658.2695) when we will have no lanes, limited lanes or a private events that may close down the facility to the public...
So, an interesting topic came up on our Facebook today a guest said "Jupiter Bowl is the stupidest place EVER! They don't know if they wanna be a bowling alley or not. One night they are having a dance club the next night, they are having a ski movie primier. Make up your CENSORED mind if you wanna be a bowling alley or not."
We say NOT. Jupiter Bowl is above all an entertainment venue with fantastic bowling! We are hoping to provide this community valuable opportunities like being able to attend a ski movie premiere, to have a great 21+ nightlife scene in Kimball Junction, be a music venue all while being able to provide a fun family entertainment during the other times.
If one looks at the major trend in "bowling alleys" they are becoming "Bowling Lounges" or "Bowling Boutiques" for instance out in New York you can visit Brooklyn Bowl which in addition to being a Bowling Lounge is a hugely popular music venue hosting artists such as Solange, Matisyahu, The Roots, Snoop Dogg, N.E.R.D and countless other local bands. How great would it be to have another venue in Park City with the capacity and ability to have these artist perform? Not to mention drawing more of a Salt Lake traffic which means business for ALL of Park City.
WHY??? would you want us to just be bowling alley?
With our state of the art audio and visual equipment why wouldn't we want host a band, or with PC's largest dance floor spanning 4 lanes on the main concourse why wouldn't we want to have a Club Atmosphere with TENPIN on Saturday nights? Especially in the Kimball Junction area where there is not as many nightlife options as on Main Street.
With 24 HDTV's and 120' feet of video wall,WHY wouldn't we want to host awesome film screenings.
We do understand the frustration when people try to go somewhere and they are closed, that's why we have recommitted ourselves to communicating with our customers when the venue will be unavailable. We will always be available via the phone during business hours for questions about availability and you can always check our Facebook, Twitter, Blogger and our Website for event information. We would love to hear YOUR feedback on how we can better communicate, as well as other things you'd like to see at Jupiter Bowl! We think that Jupiter Bowl has it all and we hope everyone can come to appreciate the many different things that Jupiter Bowl will bring to the Park City community.
Hi A,
ReplyDeleteWe agree it was not the most well phrased criticism but it does raise a valid point of the communities expectation for us. While we certainly have fabulous bowling, it cannot be relied solely upon to be a successful business in the market and especially in Park City with has a smaller population base and heavy transient business. As a new business it is important to initially diversify see what works (and what is profitable) and regroup to find a focus that is both inline with the business concept as well as what works for the market. This is what we hope to achieve in the upcoming year, and we always appreciate feedback.
