Here is our letter we submitted in response to the Park Record:
I applaud the Park Record for including recent students’ letters to the editor (February 23-25, 2011) and am amazed at how fortunate we are as a community when the most pressing issues on young people’s minds are wildlife awareness, expensive bowling and too much homework.
I must take issue, however, with the Park Record’s decision, and question the motivation, to publish an editorial comment made on an experience that occurred well over a year ago, when there must have been many other more timely letters from the dozens submitted as a class project.
While Mr. Sanchez’s selected essay may have been well written, his math was a little off. The most he could have spent at the time of opening (on a Friday or Saturday night or Holiday) would have been $30 for 3 games (and shoes).
Much of our pricing has been refined over the 16 months of our operation and we have many daily specials that can be viewed on our website at www.jupiterbowl.com. From ‘$3 Tuesdays’ to ‘Student Specials’ to ‘Family Fun Day’, Jupiter Bowl offers many value opportunities. And yes, just like the movies and other entertainment options, we do charge a little more on Friday and Saturday evenings.
The owners of Jupiter Bowl went to great lengths both in time and money to create a unique, premium product for the Park City area. We strive to serve many constituencies including families, students, local and transient populations as well as the 20/30 something crowd looking for a local ‘nightclub’ atmosphere on the weekends.
Since according to Mr. Sanchez it is “still the same game” it is good that there are now two options to enjoy the sport of bowling within a reasonable distance in Summit/Wasatch counties.
If any of you are feeling as Mr. Sanchez so passionately did, we invite you to send us an email at customerservice@jupiterbowl.com and we will gladly extend you a free game of bowling. Please come and enjoy all that Jupiter Bowl has to offer and not rely on any outdated experience.
Respectfully submitted,
Susan Spivey Platt
Director of Sales
Jupiter Bowl
